Thereafter, we recommend toners that contain the completegroup of antioxidant vitamins A,C, and E. Avoid using skin irritants (Retin-A, Benzyl Peroxide, glycolic acid, chemical peels for two weeks post treatment and for two weeks prior to subsequent treatments). Foto-facial lesions may initially look raisedand/or darker with a reddened perimeter. The lesions will gradually turn darkerover the next 24-48 hours. It may turn dark brown or even black. The lesionwill progress to scabs/crusting and will start flaking off in 2-3 days. The lesion is usually healed in 7-10 days. It will continue to fade over the next 2-4 weeks. Do not pick, scratch or remove scabs. This will prevent the chanceof infection and scarring.
If blisters or open areas occur allow them to heal spontaneously. Do not apply any petroleum-based products such as Neosporin. Possible side effects may include, local swelling, dry skin, mild tenderness or whitehead like bumps. Symptoms may be present immediately or for a couple days after your treatment. A non-steroid anti-inflammatory such as acetaminophen will help reduce discomfort. Avoid Advil, Motrin or ibuprofen.
Avoid exposure to the sun, wear protective clothing, and use sun block of at least 30 SPF or greater daily throughout the treatment process (5 to 8 months). A good sun block will contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide and will protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Apply the size of a quarter and reapply every two hours for maximum protection.
